What Does America Want For Christmas?

December 25, 2008

I’ve been thinking about a variety of things this Christmas day 2008.  One of them is this:  What does America really want for Christmas?  With all of the turmoil going on in our lives; high unemployment, banks needing a bailout, automakers needing a bailout, US still at war, etc.  I’m giving you four choices in the opinion poll below, please answer it, and of course if you have comments please let us read them.

Merry Christmas 2008

December 25, 2008

It’s Christmas morning 2008.  This is a joyful day.   It’s a day of celebration,  It’s the day that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, my Lord and savior!  That alone is good news, but the fact that he still lives and still loves you and me is even better news.  But the best news is that he wants us all to have a personal relationship with him and share in his inheritance.  It doesn’t cost a thing, all you have to do is say that you want a personal relationship with him and invite him into your life.  Then you gotta believe, have faith, and seek him by reading and learning his holy word, (The Bible), and he will direct your path through the Holy Spirit that he promised all of us that love him (John 14:15-21).

Our country is going through some rough waters.  Unemployment is at an all time high. I’m even looking for work.  Our financial lives are in turmoil.  Our country is still at war.  The definition of marriage is being debated in the media.  However, there are some signs of hope.  We have CHANGE coming to the White House.  Gas prices have fallen back to a reasonable level; and I still believe that God will supply all of my needs.

Happy Birthday Jesus.  Thank you for loving me.  Please order my steps and help me take care of my family.  And help me do what is right and pleasing in your sight.  Amen.

Pilot Tells Passengers, “I’m Not Qualified To Land This Plane”

December 22, 2008

Can you imagine how you would feel if the pilot of you plane announced over the loudspeakers that he was not qualified to land the plane?  I would probably think he was joking, but this was no joke.  The pilot actually turned the plane around and flew back to where it took off from and landed there because he was not qualified to land in the fog where the original destination was.

I just saw this on the news.  It’s video of a man throwing his shoes at President George Bush in Baghdad.  Because no one got hurt you can look at this and laugh, but I bet the Secret Service isn’t laughing.  I know the US comedians will have a field day with this one.  CLICK HERE for the video.

December 10, 2008

Bush Says He Doubts Bible Literally True

December 9, 2008
President George W. Bush

President George W. Bush

President George W. Bush said that he is not a literalist when it comes to his Bible reading. What that means to me is that President Bush doesn’t believe that everything in the Bible happened exactly as it is written.  That’s not the way I was taught, but I guess he is entitled to his opinion, even if I think his opinion is wrong.  But if you look at the public opinion on President Bush you will see that I am not alone in believing that his opinion is wrong.  But back to the Bible; do you believe that the Bible is literally true?  Answer the opinion poll and leave your comments.

Chicago Named GQ’s ‘City of the Year’

December 9, 2008

Barack Obama may be partly responsible for a new overall interest in the city of Chicago. The city’s bid for the 2016 Olympic Games has also put it in the spotlight. No longer viewed as just the country’s fattest city or the town with the highest murder rate, Chicago is becoming an international destination. CLICK HERE to read the full story.

DeaconDavid’s comment: I’m glad to see more positive news about my hometown.  I think the 2016 Olympics is looking pretty good!
