America still segregated on Sundays

August 4, 2008

Why is it that churches in America are still overwhelmingly segregated? It looks like race and slavery has a lot to do with it. This story (CLICK HERE) from CNN takes a closer look at the issue.

Oklahoma Church Cancels Gun Giveaway At Youth Conference

July 12, 2008

I happened to see this headline on CNN.com and it peaked my curiosity enough to see if it was really what it seemed to be.  It was!  You can read the full story by clicking HERE.  I was shocked to hear about a church that would market a semiautomatic assault rifle as a giveaway to encourage a higher turnout at a youth conference.  Isn’t the appeal of a youth conference supposed to be about Jesus Christ?  Help me understand what kind of appeal getting an assault rifle has for our youth that would make them attend a church youth conference.

Maybe it’s because I live in Chicago where we have way too many teens shooting each other; or maybe I just think you should go to church to worship and praise God, not get a gun.  What do you think?  Please leave your comments.

I found it interesting…I hope you do too.

God Is In Hollywood

June 15, 2008

I ran across this article by Phil Cooke, CLICK HERE, today on AOL.  It spoke to me because I too have a desire to see more positive Christian portrayals in the media, be it movies, TV, advertising, blogs, Internet or print.  I have seen more mentions of God in a positive light is a few movies, especially those done by Tyler Perry.  I wish to encourage those who can make a difference to do so.  That really means all of us.  I too will take a vow to do what I can to make a difference and not just pay lip service to spreading the GOOD NEWS.

I know for a fact that having a personal realtionship with God can, does, and will make a positive difference in your life and in the lives of those you touch.  There is no downside to this.  If you know what I am talking about I encourage you to post your comments here.

I found it interesting…I hope you do too.
