Have The Media Crossed The Line With Sports Coverage?

August 5, 2008

If you have read my blog, www.deacondavid.wordpress.com or visited my website www.deacondavid.com, then you already know that I am a big sports fan.  Yes I visit ESPN everyday and I keep track of my favorite real teams and my fantasy sports teams, but there has been a new trend in the coverage of the athletes that play the games.  They are getting the Hollywood treatment by the media.  I’m talking about writers hanging outside of Tom Brady’s girlfriends apartment building to catch him coming out of it and covering the sadomasochistic orgy that Max Mosley, head of Formula One racing was a participant in.  I know a lot of us like a good celebrity sex story, but when does it go too far?  These thoughts were stirred up after reading an article by Michael Ventre, CLICK HERE, that appeared on MSNBC.com.  Read the article and let me know what you think.

I found it interesting…I hope you do too

Angels pitch a no-no, but lose to the LA Dodgers!

June 29, 2008

Jered Weaver tossed six innings of no hit baseball on 6-28-08, and lost!

How in the world do your team pitch a no hitter and still lose?  It’s only been done five times in the history of baseball.  The fifth time was yesterday, when the Angels and the LA Dodgers hooked up for a bizzare date with history.  You can read the whole story by CLICKING HERE.  I did not see it myself, but that had to be amazing.

Shaq Raps About Kobe Bryant

June 24, 2008

On Sunday night Shaq had the opportunity to try his hand at rapping at a club in New York and this is what he did, CLICK HERE.  If you watch the whole video, Stephen Smith gives a pretty good analysis of the situation.  In my opinion it was not necessary for Shaq to say what he said, but it does make interesting video to talk about.

ESPN – 10 Essential Sites – TIME

June 19, 2008

TIME magazine says that ESPN.com is one of the top ten websites that we can’t live without. I fully agree. I visit the ESPN website everyday. Not only do I go there to get my daily fix of sports news, but I like the free fantasy sports games. I play fantasy baseball, football, basketball and golf. Last year I finished in first place for my fantasy baseball team and I just moved into first place in my current fantasy baseball league. That makes me happy. 🙂

The Boston Celtics Deserve The 2008 NBA Finals Championship

June 13, 2008

As you probably know by now, the Boston Celtics pulled off the greatest comeback in an NBA Finals game ever last night. They were down by 21 points after the first quarter and down by 24 in the second half, yet they found a way to come back. I predicted that the Lakers would win the series, but I have been pulling for my Chicago homeboy, Kevin Garnett, one of Boston’s Big-3 to win his first NBA title and ring. My daughter has been pulling for Boston since the start and at the beginning of the game I was giving her all kinds of grief…”Look at Kobe do this, and watch Gasol do that. Wow, did you see that 3-point shot to end the half.” Well you can guess how she was rubbing my face in it when the Celtics took the lead. There was nothing I could say. If you let a team go on a 21-3 run in the Finals, then you deserve to lose, and that’s just what happened. I really liked how Paul Pierce summed it up at the end of the game CLICK HERE. If you want to see the highlights summed up in a brief video check that out HERE.

CBS to televise ‘human cockfighting’

May 27, 2008

It’s hard to turn away from the swift and bloody action that this show promises. I know some people will call it inhumane, but I bet this show will get good ratings, especially at the start. How many of you will check it out. Let me know by sending your comments.

Thank You Brett Farve! Watch the amazing finish

October 30, 2007

I watched one of the most amazing overtime victories that I have ever seen last night on Monday Night Football. I’ve attached a video, CLICK HERE, of the winning play made by Brett Farve and Greg Jennings for your enjoyment. But the real story here is that by Brett tossing that winning pass my fantasy football team won its game last night by two points and moved me into first place in my ESPN fantasy football league. Talk about a nail biter. I’ve attached a link HERE to the ESPN fantasy football box score so that you can see how close it was for yourself. BTW, do I have any other fantasy football fans who read this. If so, let me know by leaving a comment. I have a fantasy sports idea that I would like to share with you.
