The “Breastaurant” business is booming

March 9, 2009

I learned a new term today via ABC News.  That term is “breastaurant”.  You have to see it to fully understand.  CLICK HERE to see and learn.  The story talks about how restaurants like Hooters, Twin Peaks, and Bone Daddy are doing very well even in the midst of the current recession.  There are a couple of reasons for that.  One is that most of the food is less than $10 and the other is the very friendly wait staff.   Would you like to see one of these breastaurants near you?  Please leave your comments.

Airline seeks bald men as walking billboards

September 10, 2008

Here’s a new way to market your brand.  Paint your logo on bald heads.  That’s what Air New Zealand is looking to do.  They want to put a temporary tattoo on the heads of bald men to generate awareness for their airline.  I think this story by itself is doing that.  Thumbs up to the marketing department for a zany idea.  You can check out the full story HERE.

The Marketing Of Michael Phelps Is A Long Term Plan

September 8, 2008

Michael Phelps has become a worldwide phenomen in what seems to be a few short weeks, but in reality the marketing plan for him has been in place for years.  I saw a very good article about the marketing of Michael Phelps in the the Daily Herald.  You can read it for yourself by CLICKING HERE.

I found it interesting that even though it looks like everything went according to plan his marketing team is concerned about overexposure for him now.  I also like the fact that he post to his own Facebook page, where he has over 1.5 million “Phans”.  What I really want to know is, is he a Christian?  I’ve seen a couple of different answers online to that question, but no official stance.  Hey Michael Phelps, if you want to promote your Christianity, I have a way for you to do it and let God get the glory for blessings you have received and for the blessings yet to come.

WSJ.com – Chew on This: Hit Song Is a Gum Jingle

July 28, 2008

DeaconDavid’s comment: I’ve never heard of this being done before, but I like how this was done. It really works because the song is already a mainstream hit.

Wrigley plans to reveal that Chris Brown’s top-10 hit song “Forever” is a commercial. It’s an extended version of a new Doublemint jingle written by the singer and scheduled to begin airing next month for the green-packaged gum.

WSJ.com – Anheuser, InBev Reach A Deal for $52 Billion

July 13, 2008

DeaconDavid’s comment:  I kind of hate to see this, but I guess it was a deal they could not refuse. My first job out of college was with DDB Needham as an assistant media planner on Busch Beer, so I’ve always been partial to the Anheuser-Busch brand of beers. I was there when Spuds Mckinzie was all the rage. Those were good times. I hope everything goes well for both companies.

Anheuser-Busch agreed to be acquired by InBev for about $52 billion, creating the world’s largest beer maker and placing an iconic American company in the hands of a Belgian-Brazilian giant. The $70-a-share deal marks an abrupt end to what many expected to be a prolonged takeover drama.
