I like the concept of taking care of the body and using your belief in God and Jesus Christ to help you stay on track. Where do I sign up? Do you agree with this way of weight loss?

No Charges In The MySpace Suicide Case

December 4, 2007

Over the past few weeks I have seen several stories about the case about a young girl, named Megan Meir, who at the tender age of 13 committed suicide after receiving a message from a boy who she thought was named Josh.  As it turns out the boy didn’t exist and was a fictional person some one else made up.  You can read all about it by clicking HERE.

When you read the story you will see that there are some serious ethical issues at hand here.   It looks like some adults conspired to deceive this young lady and because of their actions, she killed herself.  Now the prosecutor is saying that the adults didn’t break the law, they just played a tragic trick on the young lady and that is not illegal, but in my opinion, it is unethical.  What do you say?   No matter where you stand on this issue please keep all families involved in prayer.

My Thoughts and Prayers Go Out to Kanye West and Family

November 13, 2007

I’m sure that you have heard by now that Kanye West’s mother, Donda West, passed on Saturday evening, November 10, 2007.  I didn’t know Donda West personally, but I know people who knew her and everybody I have talked to had nothing but kind words for her.  In fact the home in which I currently live was formerly owned by a professor who worked with her at Chicago State University.  I too know what it is like lose a parent and there is not a lot that people can say that makes things better.  As a Christian and a deacon I do know that prayer helps, so my prayers are with Kanye and his family.  Time does heal, but now is a time to mourn, reflect, an celebrate the life of Donda West.

I Predicted That “Why Did I Get Married?” Would Be #1

October 15, 2007

Why Did I Get Married Ticket Stubs

If you go back and look at my blog entry titled “I Met Tyler Perry Last Night” from October 3, 2007, you will see that I predicted that his movie “Why Did I Get Married?” would be the top movie from this weekend and I’m glad to say that I was correct.  The full story can be seen by clicking HERE.  I did get a chance to see the movie myself this weekend and I agree that it is worthy of being number one.

The movie is very entertaining and has a great soundtrack, like so many of Tyler Perry’s projects.  I don’t want to give away too much but the movie is about four married couples who are all friends that meet together every year for an annual celebration of their friendships and marriages.  However this particular weekend a lot of sensitive secrets come out and that is the catalyst for some serious fireworks.  Let’s just say that everyone doesn’t stay happily married; but this is not a sad movie by any stretch of the imagination.  In fact is is funny and thought provoking.

There is a little something for everybody in this movie including a beefcake shot for that got lots of reaction from the ladies in the audience.  The men who go to see this will not be disappointed in what they see either.

There are some serious life lessons taught in the movie, like the 80/20, rule that you should never forget.

When you see the transformation that happens to Shelia / Jill Scott in the movie you realize what can happen when you have a good spouse and love for yourself in your life.  I encourage you all to see this movie and share your thoughts right here on my blog.  If you have seen the movie already, let me know what you thought about it.

This is serious – Prayer Request For Jason Oman

October 13, 2007

When I checked my email this morning there was a serious request from Matt Bacak, whom I have a great deal of respect for, so I immediately opened it.  Here is what it said:

“Hello David,

This is a very serious email from Singapore.

A good friend of mine, Jason Oman
is in the hospital because he has
been having bad headaches so his
roommate took him to the hospital.

He has a brain aneurysm.

This has brought many friends to
stop in there tracks and update each
other about what is going on.

This is the last update from my good
friend Mike Litman and his co-author
of ‘Conversations with Millionaires’:

“They’ll know tomorrow after lunch
if their going to do surgery, Larry
Benet was told there’s a 30% chance
of full recovery…”

If you pray, I ask you please pray for
him. He has not only been a great influence
of on my life, but many others because of
his amazing insight and book promotion
strategies…

My prayers go out to him, and
if I was in Atlanta right now, I’d
be at the hospital with him.

In Singapore,

Matt Bacak

P.S. He’s only 34 years old, That goes to show
you how you need to appreciate everyday.”

I didn’t get Matt’s ok to share this email with you, but based on the nature of his prayer request, I’m making a spiritual decision to share this with you and ask that you join me, Matt, and anybody else who cares to pray for a full recovery for Jason Oman.

When and if I hear an update, I’ll let you know.

Thanks,

DeaconDavid
