Batman: The Dark Knight Is Oscar Material

July 18, 2008

If you listen to all of the hype about Batman: The Dark Knight, this movie should open this weekend with sales of over $100 million dollars.  Heath Ledger should receive a posthumous Oscar, and the movie should go down as one of the best movies ever made.  Because I live in Chicago, where the movie was filmed, I have seen an overload of coverage and just last night there was the Chicago premier of the movie with the full red carpet treatment.  So with all of the hype and build up for this movie, I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that The Dark Knight will be the top movie of the weekend and will probably be the top movie of the year.  I have heard that the way to see this movie is on the IMAX screen and I want to do that, but all of the screenings through the first weekend have already been sold out.

I found it interesting…I hope you do too

Apparent copper wire thief electrocuted

May 27, 2008

Man dies while trying to steal copper from a transformer on the West side of Chicago. It’s a shame that this guy died, but it’s also a shame that he was apparently stealing. Sometimes God’s wrath is very swift. Tell me what you think by leaving your comments.

Sight Seen on the “Mag Mile” in Chicago this morning

October 23, 2007

As I was leaving McDonald’s on my way to the office this morning I saw this young lady putting on her wedding gown in front of the Wrigley Bulilding in downtown Chicago.  Now this is something that you don’t see everyday and I happend to have my camera with me so I asked for permission to take her picture and then I had to ask…”What are you doing in your wedding gown in front of the Wrigley Building?”  She smiled and said that she got married this past weekend and she and the groom were scheduled to take some photos in the middle of Michigan Avenue and they were waiting on the photographer.  OK, now it made sense.  I’ve seen other wedding parties take photos right in the middle of the street with the beautiful Chicago skyline in the background.  I’m sure it’s a wonderful picture and somthing you will never forget.  I told her that I would put her in my blog, so I’m keeping my word.  I sure hope they didn’t have to wait long.  It was kind of chilly, low 50’s,  in Chicago this morning.
