For Coach, God and Archery Are a Package Deal

August 20, 2008

Brady Ellison, Olympic Archer

DeaconDavid’s comment: I applaud and encourage anyone, especially those who have the public spotlight, who lifts up their relationship with Jesus Christ as being very important in their lives.

Kisik Lee has served the dual, if controversial, roles of the head coach of the United States archery team and a spiritual guide to some of its athletes.

Miley Cyrus Says She Can’t Live Without The Bible

July 15, 2008
Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus

I ran across this story on AOL.  You can see it HERE.  The article talks about how Miley Cyrus says that she can’t live without the Bible.  I’m probably not in her target demographic, but I will happily report on any celebrity who promotes a relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you know about any other celebs who are using their high profile status to lift up Christ, please let me know by leaving a comment.

I found it interesting…I hope you do too

Living With True Freedom

July 4, 2008

One of the devotionals that I like to read daily is from In Touch Ministries.  Today’s devotional is titled True Freedom.  You can see it for yourself by CLICKING HERE.  The devotional talks about how according to the Bible (Romans 6:11-18) men and women are either slaves to God or slaves to sin, there is no middle ground.  However, it is the “slaves to God” who enjoy true freedom.  They honer God by keeping away from those things that imprison their body, emotions, and thoughts.  No matter what country you live in, living for God and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the way to true freedom.

Forget Evian or Vitaminwater: Holy Drinking Water

December 12, 2007

(My comment – Can you believe this? I’m all for promoting Jesus Christ, but this may be going a little too far, then again…)

Spiritual Water is purified municipal water, sold with 10 different Christian labels. The Virgin Mary bottle, for example, has the Hail Mary prayer printed on the back in English and Spanish.
It is blessed in the warehouse by an Anglican or Roman Catholic priest.

The Golden Compass Controversy

December 5, 2007

I’ve been hearing and reading a lot about some swirling controversy from Christian groups who don’t like how the church is portrayed in the movie “The Golden Compass”.  Since I have not read the book and I don’t really know the story it is hard for me to pass judgement or have an informed opinion.  However, as a Christian I oppose anything that mocks or blasphemes my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I just don’t know if this movie falls into that category.  The only thing I have seen of the movie is the polar bear fight trailer that I saw on a website banner ad.

Can you, my readers, help me understand what all the fuss is about?  I have included a link HERE to a story that I saw on Yahoo that might help you with the details. Please leave your comments.
