God Is In Hollywood

June 15, 2008

I ran across this article by Phil Cooke, CLICK HERE, today on AOL.  It spoke to me because I too have a desire to see more positive Christian portrayals in the media, be it movies, TV, advertising, blogs, Internet or print.  I have seen more mentions of God in a positive light is a few movies, especially those done by Tyler Perry.  I wish to encourage those who can make a difference to do so.  That really means all of us.  I too will take a vow to do what I can to make a difference and not just pay lip service to spreading the GOOD NEWS.

I know for a fact that having a personal realtionship with God can, does, and will make a positive difference in your life and in the lives of those you touch.  There is no downside to this.  If you know what I am talking about I encourage you to post your comments here.

I found it interesting…I hope you do too.

I Predicted That “Why Did I Get Married?” Would Be #1

October 15, 2007

Why Did I Get Married Ticket Stubs

If you go back and look at my blog entry titled “I Met Tyler Perry Last Night” from October 3, 2007, you will see that I predicted that his movie “Why Did I Get Married?” would be the top movie from this weekend and I’m glad to say that I was correct.  The full story can be seen by clicking HERE.  I did get a chance to see the movie myself this weekend and I agree that it is worthy of being number one.

The movie is very entertaining and has a great soundtrack, like so many of Tyler Perry’s projects.  I don’t want to give away too much but the movie is about four married couples who are all friends that meet together every year for an annual celebration of their friendships and marriages.  However this particular weekend a lot of sensitive secrets come out and that is the catalyst for some serious fireworks.  Let’s just say that everyone doesn’t stay happily married; but this is not a sad movie by any stretch of the imagination.  In fact is is funny and thought provoking.

There is a little something for everybody in this movie including a beefcake shot for that got lots of reaction from the ladies in the audience.  The men who go to see this will not be disappointed in what they see either.

There are some serious life lessons taught in the movie, like the 80/20, rule that you should never forget.

When you see the transformation that happens to Shelia / Jill Scott in the movie you realize what can happen when you have a good spouse and love for yourself in your life.  I encourage you all to see this movie and share your thoughts right here on my blog.  If you have seen the movie already, let me know what you thought about it.

I Met Tyler Perry Last Night

October 3, 2007

I received a pass to attend the premier of Tyler Perry‘s new movie “Why Did I Get Married” from my church this past Sunday.  The performance was for Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 7:00 PM.  I arrived shortly before 6:30 PM and it was a madhouse.  The crowd was overflowing and it soon became clear that I was going to have some trouble getting in.  Not only does Tyler Perry get great support in Chicago, but he was supposed to show up to introduce the movie.  I wanted to see the movie, meet Tyler, and give him a copy of my book, “101 Ways To Glorify God Today“.  As it turned out, I was not able to get in, but as I was leaving the theater, Tyler’ s limo pulled up he hopped out with about 5 security guards and proceeded to go in a back entrance to the theater.  I yelled out to him that I had a book to give him and he motioned to me to come over.  I was able to give him a signed copy of the book, but I was not able to take a picture with him.

I understand that he and the cast of the movie are supposed to be on Oprah today.  I’ll have to check that out.  I wanted to give you a review of the movie, but I’ll have to wait for it to come out like everybody else.  I do predict that it will be the number one movie for that weekend.  Not only does he make great movies and plays, but he has Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Malik Yoba, Michael Jai White, and Tyler Perry himself in this movie.  I’m sure there’s something in it for everyone, married or single.  I’ll let you know once I check it out.
